Where Indiana and Africa Meet Through Stories
The Indy-Africa Book & Film Festival makes its historic debut as Indiana's first dedicated celebration of African literature, cinema, art and cultural exchange. Founded and produced by CAWADAC, the festival brings together writers, scholars, filmmakers and artists from across the African diaspora for a multi-day program of screenings, readings, panel discussions and community events at Indianapolis Central Library and partner venues across Indianapolis.
The festival is born from a conviction long overdue: that African storytelling — in all its forms, across all its traditions, and in all its diasporic richness — belongs at the heart of Indiana's cultural and intellectual life. It is a declaration that Indianapolis is ready to take its place in the global conversation about African literature, cinema and art.
From its very first edition, the festival reaches beyond its immediate program to invest in the future — launching the High School Performance Lab and welcoming international collaborators to nurture the next generation of storytellers.
